Helen McLean Heller

AMP Board of Trustees

Helen Heller has worked 25 years as a Special Education teacher at The Summit School in Maryland.  Committed to using her skills as a reading specialist and language arts teacher to empower students to succeed, she has an awareness of the need and the skills for multi-sensory teaching and understands the importance of interactive technology in education.

Ms. Heller serves as Board Vice President of the Foundation Literacy and Leadership, small non-profit helps Baltimore city children succeed in school and have a better chance to succeed in life.

She and her husband, Michael Heller, have raised their family on a 285-acre farm owned by The Chesapeake Bay Foundation.  Michael is an environmental policy analyst and director of the sustainable farm that produces organic vegetables and pasture-raised beef for 450 families,

Ms. Heller welcomes the opportunity to support the American Museum for Peace by serving on the AMP Board of Trustees.  AMP’s mission to tell the stories of individuals who have been agents of peace and healing in our society fits well with her own orientation of contributing to society through fostering individual growth.
